The Curious Case Of Jealousy

The "green-eyed monster" known as jealousy is almost universally seen as a negative quality for a person to possess, and it is clearly seen in Scripture as being something discouraged and rebuked. Therefore, it might be confusing when someone reads Romans 11:11-16 where Paul expresses his desire for Israel to have feelings of jealousy. How can these two simultaneous thoughts be expressed within Scripture and there not be a contradiction? This lesson looks at the contextual and translation issues that can blur our understanding of the issue of jealousy within Scritpure.
