God's Comfort During Crisis (Isaiah 40)

Series: 2020 Daily Bible Reading: The Prophets

There is a strong change of tone that takes place between Isaiah 39 & 40. Some would use this change in tone to question the book's validity, but I would attribute the change in tone to the fact that the author's perspective has changed. The first half of the book focuses on warning God's people against rebellion, sin, and distrust in God, and the second half focuses on comforting God's people as they are in the middle of the exile crisis. While we might not be in exile in the same way that the Jews were in Babylon, we still face our own different crises in this life. This lesson uses the text of Isaiah 40 to teach us how God helps to comfort us during our own times of crisis.
