The Servant's Parable Teachings (Mark 4:1-34)

Series: The Incredible Jesus: A Study Through Mark's Gospel

As we make our way through Mark's Gospel, we might be tempted to question why it is that Jesus seems to have such a hard time getting the most obvious canidates for discipleship to actually follow Him. His own family thinks He's out of His mind, and the religious leaders think He's working with the devil himself. What is it that Jesus is doing wrong? I would suggest that Mark anticpates this question and answers it with four parables that Jesus taught to the multitudes. This lesson looks at how the parables of the soils, light, growth, and the mustard seed show that the issue was not our Lord or His message, but problem rested on the heart of the hearers.
