Laodicea: The Lukewarm Church

Series: A Study Of The Seven Churches Of Asia

Though not a huge section of the book, the second and third chapters of Revelation are a key portion of the purpose behind why Jesus instructed John to write down was told to him and what he saw in the visions he received on the island of Patmos. The final of these seven messages was addressed to the church of Laodicea. This lesson looks at the lukeward church of Laodicea and the message that contained only rebukes and admonishments without the presense of any commendations. Surely the Christians receiving this letter would be ashamed for their failures, but Jesus's mercy and patience are seen in the fact that He does include instructions as to how they could rise up from their fallen state and the tremendous rewards that would await them if they repented.
