Paul, Baptism, & I Corinthians 1Series: 2019 Daily Bible Reading: NT Letters
Not all churches within the first century faced the same kinds of problems and difficulties. Sometimes they faced difficulties based upon the background of the disciples that made up the chruch, sometimes they faced difficutlies based upon the environment in which they found themselves, and then there was Corinth that faced basically every problem that could exist. Yes, Corinth was a very wordly city, but these brethren had Paul there with them for a full year and a half teaching them the Gospel and who they were expected to be in Christ. Unfortunately, they had some pretty significant issues that show up even in the first chapter. Some folks would say their issues centered around baptism, but this lesson will show us that the real issues these people faced centered around their inability to unite upon the Gospel, Christ, and His cross.
