How Could The Man After God's Own Heart Fail?

There are many Biblical characters that are spoken of in glowing terms, but few of them come with the reputation of king David. The young David slew the wicked giant Goliath. As king he restored Jerusalem, the Ark, and defeated the heathen armies. He was so faithful to the Lord that he was referred to as a man after God's own heart. All of these things are true, but his mistakes with Bathsheba are also true. Sure David wasn't perfect.  He had his fair share of shortcomings, but godly men aren't supposed to fail in the manner in which he did in II Samuel 11 & 12. This lesson looks at just how David could fall so low so quickly, and how we must be on guard against the same dangers.
