The Egyptian Option

Series: Lessons Under The Law

As a new generation of Israelites were on the brink of entering the Promised Land, Moses warned them never to return to Egypt (Deuteronomy 17:16).  No matter what any king said or how much time passed, they should never go back to Egypt.  But there was a real temptation, in generations before and after the Exodus, to go to Egypt in their time of need, instead of trusting God.  Egypt was always there as an alternative option to help God’s people.  Instead of trusting God or obeying God, the Israelites could go to Egypt to find deliverance, relief or even blessing.  As New Testament Christians we are called to live by faith not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).  In this lesson we will consider how we can better live by faith in God and not in our own earthly "Egyptian Options."
